Former Member Of Lutheran Church
"I Felt A Connection"
By Lisa Sheryl Kissel
I was in the hospital visiting my mother she had
recovered from a knee surgery. She had it done at St. John’s Medical
Center. I was studying the statue of Christ, I felt touched by the
spirit , and I felt that something was missing in my life. I went
with a friend to a Lutheran Church and I realized, it is nice, but
it wasn’t what I wanted.
I then saw the commercial for The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints, and immediately felt a connection. I
knew that they were the “Mormons” , The only thing I knew about
Mormonism, was that the Donny Osmond and his family were Mormons.
I called the number on the screen and three
sisters came over to my house and delivered a bible for my daughter
and I as well as the Book of Mormon, as well as two videos, my
daughter and I had the missionaries come and teach us , and then
within a month , my daughter said Mommy I want us to be baptized.
We were baptized in March of 1999, by the Bishop
in our ward, in his swimming pool. Jumping from Judaism to
Mormonism, was a big adjustment for us both. I testify the truths in
the Gospel, Book of Mormon, Scriptures
And the Love that Heavenly father and Jesus Christ
have for us. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and
we have our living prophet Gordon B. Hinckley. If I had to do it all
again. I would have done the same thing in a heartbeat.
